Technology High School Guidelines for Use of the University Library

Tech High School should provide the Library at the start of the school year with a roster of students, faculty and staff in order for the Library to extend borrowing privileges.

Tech High faculty may request Library orientations, tours, research classes, or input on research-related assignments or projects from the Library’s K-12 Program Coordinator.

Instructors must schedule class visits at least 1 day in advance with the Library’s K-12 Program Coordinator to avoid scheduling conflicts with other groups and/or events.  Requests for class visits should include a brief description of the students’ assignment or project .

Tech High class visits may not be scheduled between the hours of 11am and 1pm, Monday-Thursday during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Tech High faculty may not teach classes in the Library.

Students must be accompanied by Tech High faculty at all times and faculty must lead their students into the Library.

Computing resources may be used for educational purposes only.  No gaming is allowed anytime, including non-school hours. (see also SSU Library Computer Use Policy)

The Digital Lab, located in the Library’s Learning & Teaching Center, is only available to SSU students.

Students’ behavior must be respectful to other Library users at all times. Disruptive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. The entire third floor is a strictly enforced “Quiet Study Zone”. Group work should take place in the first floor “Information Commons” area.

Use of multimedia materials, such as DVDs and CDs, and facilities, such as group viewing rooms, must be supervised by Tech High faculty.

Laptops may be checked out with written permission of instructor, dated with current date.  No standing requests for laptop checkouts.

Tech High faculty should understand that the University Library does not filter or censor content whether online or in print.
