Part I. Narrowing Your Topic
First, with as much focus as possible write down your topic. Are there certain phrases or terms that you think might be helpful? Have you narrowed to a specific area of focus or do you need to spend more time breaking your topic down into concepts, issues, synonyms, etc.? Second, draft a thesis statement. Use the back and/or additional sheets if necessary.
Part II. Citing Monographs
Find at least 3 titles in either Merlin or Melvyl that might be appropriate to your topic. Cite the titles below in MLA format. Request the appropriate titles through IBARO. (Don't forget to make a note in your search notebook of what you ordered and when you ordered it.)
Part III. Library Catalogs
What do you think about library catalogs - why are they important, what do you like and don't like about them, what don't you understand, how do they work, what would you tell a friend about using library catalogs, etc.? Be descriptive and thoughtful. Feel free to use the back.
