What is a Library PIN?
Library PINs (along with your 14 digit barcode number from your campus ID card) are used to verify eligibility for library services, such as:
- Accessing articles and full-text databases (Academic Search, Lexis/Nexis, etc.) from off-campus computers. (Current SSU students, faculty and staff only)
- Viewing your Library Record to see what you currently have checked out and when it's due back.
- Renewing non-reserve items online (one time only)
- Placing holds on items not currently available.
- Seeing if you have any unpaid fines.
- Borrowing items through LINK+.
- NOTE: Interlibrary Services requires a separate registration and login.
Is it the same PIN used to check grades, class schedules, etc.?
- No, You need to create a Library PIN on the library's website.
- For your convenience you may decide to make your Library PIN the same as your campus password.
How do I create a Library PIN? (See Example)
- Click on "My Library Record" in the upper right corner of the Library's home page (http://library.sonoma.edu)
- Type in your 14-digit barcode number from your campus ID or library card:
- Type in your Library PIN. Click "Submit."
- Use any combination of letters and numbers (must include a mix of both).
- As of July 1, 2006, it must be at least 6 characters and up to 30 characters (e.g. Rover51).
- It is case-sensitive and should include only letters and/or numbers (e.g. not specialized characters such as $ & * ~ , etc.).
- Type in the same Library PIN, twice, and click "Submit."
- If all was successful, you should get a screen with your name on it, indicating you are successfully in your library record.

- If you get an error message, ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk or Reference Desk or Ask a Librarian.
- Be sure to click on the LOGOUT button when you are finished in your Library Record, especially if you are at a public computer, so that others cannot access your record.
What happens if I forget my Library PIN?
- Ask Circulation Desk staff (or call 707 664-2375) to delete the PIN in your record, allowing you to create another.
- If you create a new PIN and use Interlibrary Services, contact the ILS office at 707-664-2866 to also have your PIN reset for that service.
Any other cool tricks?
If you log into your Library Record before searching the Snoopy Library Catalog, you may:
- Save your searches in the Snoopy Library Catalog.
- Request that your saved searches be run each week and an email be sent to you whenever anything new is added to the catalog on that topic.
- Note: If you use this function you should be aware of privacy concerns: staff will not have access to this information. However, with the appropriate court order, it is possible that law enforcement officials could gain access to your saved searches. If this is of concern to you, you should not use this feature.
